Schoolhouse Home Education News
The first edition of the Schoolhouse Home Education News appeared in the summer of 1999 as a sister publication to the
popular, award-winning Schoolhouse Times. The News is for anyone who home educates or has an interest in home education
in Scotland, including local authorities and the voluntary sector, and everyone is welcome to send in articles, which may
be of interest to the home educating community. Although Schoolhouse is a Scottish organisation dedicated to the needs of
home educators and home educated young people in Scotland, the perspective of the News is distinctly global and contributions
are encouraged from all who are committed to increasing choice and extending diversity in education throughout the UK and
overseas. The News is circulated widely both in and beyond the home educating community, so home educators may wish to be
reassured that the postal addresses of individual contributors will be withheld on request in order to protect privacy.
Requests from those wishing to contact other like minds will be published, and a forwarding service will ensure that
confidentiality is not compromised. We look forward to publishing a wide variety of views in future editions. For further
